Working environment and context
Our institution is part of PSL University. Located in the heart of Paris, it brings together all areas of knowledge, innovation and creation. Ranked among the top 50 universities in the world, it trains researchers, artists, engineers, entrepreneurs and managers who are aware of their social, individual and collective responsibility in the field of research.
Hosting structure
Institut Curie Research Center is a major player in the research and fight against cancer. It consists of a Hospital group and a Research Center of more than 1000 employees with a strong international representativeness. The objective of the Research Center is to develop basic research and to use the knowledge produced to improve the diagnosis, prognosis, and therapeutics of cancers as part of the continuum between basic research and innovation serving the patient.
Missions
Main tasks
The laboratory
The successful candidate will join the Compartmentalization and Dynamics of Nuclear Functions team led by Angela Taddei at Institut Curie (https://curie.fr/equipe/taddei). Our research focuses on understanding how nuclear organization regulates genome functions, with a particular emphasis on homologous recombination. We combine state-of-the-art in vivo quantitative microscopy approaches, including super-resolution imaging, with genetic and molecular biology techniques.
The project
This position is part of a project aimed at studying the various stages of the DNA damage response (DDR) in relation to genome spatial organization in the yeast S. cerevisiae.
The missions :
The recruited engineer will have two main responsabilities :
- The individual will strengthen the team’s capacity to generate new yeast strains required for the project’s progress (tool construction : plasmids and strains)
- He/she will adapt the oligopaint tcehnique to vizualize 3D chromosome conformation during the DNA damage response. This part of the project will be carried out with the assistance of a reserach engineer from the Taddei team and a research engineer from the Curie Coretech platform.
As part of his duties, the engineer will conduct experiments, analyzeresults, maintain an up-to-date electronic laboratory notebook, and present project progress at laboratory meetings.
