Study Engineer (F/M) (F/M)
75005, Paris, France
Working environment and context
Our institution is part of PSL University. Located in the heart of Paris, it brings together all areas of knowledge, innovation and creation. Ranked among the top 50 universities in the world, it trains researchers, artists, engineers, entrepreneurs and managers who are aware of their social, individual and collective responsibility in the field of research.
Hosting structure
The Curie Institute Research Center
The Institut Curie is a major player in the research and fight against cancer. It consists of a hospital and a Research Center of more than 1000 employees with a strong international representativeness.
The objective of the Curie Institute Research Center is to develop basic research and to use the knowledge produced to improve the diagnosis, prognosis, and therapeutics of cancers as part of the continuum between basic research and innovation serving the patient.
Missions
Main tasks
Laboratory
Institut Curie, CNRS UMR 144 – team Daniele Fachinetti: Molecular Mechanisms of Chromosome Dynamics
Missions
Our team Molecular Mechanisms of Chromosome Dynamics, led by Daniele Fachinetti, investigates the fundamental principles that ensure the faithful transmission of genetic material in mammalian cells. We combine cell biology, genetics, epigenetics, biochemistry, and imaging to understand how centromeres are established, maintained, and function throughout the cell cycle. We also study how their deregulation can lead to genome instability – a key driver of many pathologies, including cancer.
Our team is seeking a motivated Study Engineer (IE) in Biology to contribute to a project investigating the role of aneuploidy, centromeres, and germline deletions in the transition from normal to tumoral states in neuroblastoma. The project focuses on human induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSCs), hiPSC-derived sympathoblasts, and neuroblastoma cell lines to better understand mechanisms of tumor initiation and progression.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Maintenance and differentiation of hiPSCs and culture of several cell lines.
- Lab management
- Performing transfection experiments and molecular assays (including CRISPR technology) to modulate and analyze gene expression.
- Conducting DNA, RNA, and protein extraction followed by downstream analyses (PCR, RT-qPCR, western blot).
- Applying molecular biology techniques such as cloning and plasmid manipulation.
- Collaborating closely with researchers to analyze experimental data and contribute to the advancement of the project
Applicant profile
Knowkedge and qualifications expected

- Solid background in cellular and molecular biology techniques (PCR, RT-qPCR, western blot, cloning, plasmids).
Qualifications
- Good organizational skills, ability to work both independently and in a team.
- Rigor, motivation, and enthusiasm for research.
- Fluency in English
