Hosting structure
Institut Curie Research Center
Institut Curie is a major player in cancer research and cancer care. It comprises a hospital and a research center with more than 1,000 employees and a strong international presence. The mission of the Institut Curie Research Center is to advance fundamental research and translate scientific discoveries into improved cancer diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment, fostering a continuum between basic research and innovation for patient benefit.
Missions
Main tasks
Laboratory
Within the IRIS Unit (UMR9029/U1353), our team "Molecular Pathology and Preclinical Testing" (IMPACT) develops an integrated molecular oncology approach focused primarily on urothelial bladder carcinomas, with the aim of comprehensively characterizing the molecular mechanisms involved in tumor initiation, progression, and treatment response.
The successful candidate will primarily contribute to two translational research projects dedicated to urothelial cancers. The first project aims to identify predictive biomarkers of response to immunotherapy using digital pathology, immunohistochemistry, and transcriptomic approaches. The second project focuses on developing innovative personalized medicine models (patient-derived organoids and xenografts) to predict the efficacy of anticancer therapies. These projects combine cell culture, molecular biology, tumor tissue analysis, and state-of-the-art technologies to improve patient care.
The successful candidate will also work closely with other team members on both projects and will integrate a dynamic and supportive team environment. The position offers the opportunity to work within a multidisciplinary setting involving biologists, bioinformaticians, and clinicians.
Main Responsibilities
Histology and Tissue Characterization
- Preparation and analysis of tumor samples (histology, immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence).
- Acquisition and preliminary analysis of microscopy images.
- Management of biological samples and development of new tissue characterization protocols
Cell Culture and Experimental Models
- Culture and maintenance of cell lines, primary cultures, and tumor-derived organoids.
- Development and optimization of 3D culture models and associated protocols.
Molecular Biology
- Extraction and analysis of DNA/RNA from cellular, tissue, and organoids samples.
- Gene expression analysis using RT-qPCR.
Participation in Research Projects and Laboratory Management
- Performance of experiments, collection and preliminary analysis of data, and presentation of results.
- Technical support for team members.
- Management of laboratory stocks and sample traceability, keeping a lab notebook, and implementation of quality, safety, and hygiene procedures.
