Missions

Main tasks

MINES Paris – PSL is launching the International Bachelor of Environmentally Engaged Engineering (I-BE³), a selective, English-taught undergraduate engineering program, addressing major environmental and societal challenges. It combines strong scientific foundations, project-based learning with each semester structured around real-world projects aligned with selected SDGs: energy, water, health, sustainable cities, climate. Based in Sophia Antipolis, I-BE³ is developed in partnership with Chimie ParisTech – PSL and is accredited by the French Engineering Accreditation Commission (CTI) as a Bachelor of Science and Engineering, conferring the French national Grade de Licence.

Within this framework, Mines Paris – PSL is seeking a Laboratory, Makerspace & Prototyping Technician to support teaching activities, student projects, and practical work within the I-BE³ Bachelor.

Reporting to the teaching team and program management, the technician contributes to the preparation, operation, and maintenance of teaching laboratories, experimental setups, and makerspace activities linked to physics, engineering sciences, and interdisciplinary SDG semester projects.

The position combines technical support, laboratory preparation, equipment management, and operational assistance to students and faculty in a hands-on, project-based learning environment.

 Key responsibilities:

- Prepare and maintain experimental setups for teaching activities and demonstrations

- Support practical sessions in physics, engineering sciences, and prototyping activities

- Assist students during project-based activities involving fabrication, measurements, testing, or experimentation

- Contribute to makerspace/fablab activities (prototyping, tools, digital fabrication, assembly)

- Ensure the availability, organization, and maintenance of equipment and consumables

- Participate in laboratory safety management and enforcement of safety procedures, in coordination with the HSE team

- Support simple instrumentation, measurements, sensors, electronics, or data acquisition activities

- Contribute to the logistical organization of semester projects and technical workshops

- Provide operational support during activities involving external partners or contributors

Applicant profile

Knowkedge and qualifications expected

Required qualifications:

- Technical degree (BTS, BUT, Licence professionnelle, or equivalent) in physics, instrumentation, electronics, mechanical systems, prototyping, or related field

- Practical experience in laboratory, workshop, makerspace, or technical support activities

- Ability to interact with students in English in a teaching environment

- Strong organizational and hands-on technical skills

- Working proficiency in French and English

 Preferred qualifications:

- Experience in educational laboratories or engineering schools

- Familiarity with prototyping tools, sensors, electronics, or digital fabrication tools

- Experience with makerspaces, fablabs, or project-based learning environments

- Interest in sustainability, low-tech approaches, or experimental pedagogy



Personal qualities:

- Service-oriented and approachable

- Autonomous and reliable

- Practical problem-solving mindset

- Ability to work collaboratively with faculty and students

- Attention to safety and operational quality

- Full-time position

- Based on-site at Sophia Antipolis (Campus Pierre Laffitte)
