This is a tenure track position with a reduced teaching load leading to a full professor position in four years. The position will start on 1st October 2024 (or at a mutually agreed later date).

The research department in law of Université Paris Dauphine-PSL (CR2D) is inviting applications for a Junior Professorship Chair (CPJ in French) on the theme of "Environment and Legal systems".
Université Paris Dauphine-PSL is a pioneer in addressing the challenges of ecological and social transition, and the impact of AI on our society. It is developing two major programs: Dauphine Durable on sustainable development and Dauphine Numérique on digital transition. Through its six research centers, Université Paris Dauphine-PSL is uniquely positioned to draw on the cross-disciplinary expertise of mathematics, computer science, economics, law, sociology, political science and management, to support and shed light on the profound changes taking place in our society.
Within this ecosystem, the research department in law of Dauphine (CR2D) develops research focused on the legal analysis of economic phenomenon, enriched by a multi-disciplinary approach and very regular exchanges with stakeholders, be they companies, legal advisers, courts, economic regulatory authorities and other interested experts.
More specifically, CR2D is actively involved in PSL's research drive on transition and global change. CR2D is already participating in the TERRAE major transdisciplinary program, and is developing two new lines of research, one entitled "Companies and transition risks", the other "Economic regulation and ecological transition", which are linked to Dauphine PSL's "Sustainable development" structuring program.
CR2D is also involved in the European Platform for Research in Energy and Climate Law, alongside the UMR Transitions Énergétiques et Environnementales (TREE - UMR 6031) and the Maison Française d'Oxford (MFO). The founding contract brings together CNRS, Université Paris Dauphine-PSL, Université de Pau et des Pays de l'Adour and Maison Française d'Oxford. The European Federation of Energy Law Associations (EFELA) is a privileged partner of the Platform.

Mission

Chaire Junior in " Environment and Legal Orders "

The teaching project will focus on cross-disciplinary training through research, fostering the development of an interdisciplinary training strategy from undergraduate to doctoral level. It will aim to meet the ambitions of a new generation of law students aspiring to become involved in major contemporary issues, and to help them become decision-makers in societal change.
The Chairholder will be involved in PSL Week, a major educational event organized by PSL University, enabling students to benefit from the diversity of scientific skills brought together within PSL.
Teaching will be in English.
The CPJ holder will have a reduced teaching load for the first three years1 (1st year: 96 hTD; 2nd year: 128 hTD; 3rd year: 128 hTD), then a teaching load of 192 hTD in the fourth year.
No additional courses or work may be carried out during this period, which must be mainly devoted to research.

Research department in law of Paris Dauphine-PSL (CR2D)

In the context of the globalization of environmental issues, including those relating to energy, climate and biodiversity, the candidate will present a project with the aim of analyzing the structural and substantive changes that legal systems can make in order to meet, in keeping with their values, the challenges posed to contemporary societies by environmental commitments, the modalities of a sustainable energy transition and the climate emergency.
The project will be conducted from a dual interdisciplinary and international perspective. The research will be part of projects carried out with all PSL entities. It will analyse the construction of law in the face of the environmental matrix, focusing on the legal mechanisms that make it possible to grasp and participate in the challenges of ecological transition (climate, energy, biodiversity). Research will also take a comparative approach (international law, European Union law, domestic law).
The "Environment and Legal Systems" Junior Professorship Chair will create a structuring transversality between these programs and research axes, by ensuring an international research environment through the analysis of normative mutations affecting the legal orders concerned.
The research carried out will support companies and public regulatory authorities as they grapple with the challenges of ecological transition in a normative context that is undergoing radical upheaval.

At the end of the four years, the candidate must at least:

Present:

  • 3 published - or at least accepted - articles in English
  • 2 papers presented at European and international conferences

Have organized 1 international conference and have it published,

Have contributed to the dynamics of the Terrae program, the European Platform for Energy and Climate Law and the CR2D research axes,

Have contributed to the drafting of collective reports as part of these research programs,

Have been involved in the supervision of a doctoral student.
