Your environment :

The Centre O.I.E. is a joint research team MINES Paris - PSL/ ARMINES, whose activities are at the crossroads of energy, the environment and Earth observation.

The work of O.I.E. contributes to three areas of activity:

•Development of energy-specific meteorology for the assessment and prediction of renewable resources, including solar energy;

•Analysis and decision support in terms of reducing the environmental, social and economic impacts of transport, energy production and use;

•Dissemination of scientific data through web services in an international collaborative environment (OGC, GEOSS, IRENA, IEA).

The research of O.I.E. is related to the evaluation, modelling and exploitation of renewable energy resources yesterday, today and tomorrow.

Mission

Your challenges and responsabilities :

•conduct (i.e. contribute, conduct, supervise, find funding, communicate, publish and popularize) cutting-edge international research, of an academic and/or partnership nature in the field of Earth observation data sciences applied to solar energy.

•contribute and be responsible for teaching activities for different levels of higher education, notably for the cycle of civil engineers of MINES Paris – PSL, and the different formations of MINES Paris – PSL

•mentor and advise students engaged in research projects in the field of solar energy and data science.

•supervise and direct doctoral theses.

•collaborate with other researchers and departments within MINES Paris - PSL, as well as with external academic partners, or the socio-economic sector of the territory, France or internationally.

•contribute to the institutional service by participating in academic committees, recruitment activities, and other activities to support the missions of the O.I.E. centre of the DEP department of MINES Paris – PSL.

Let's talk about you !...

You have :

A PhD in data science, atmospheric science, meteorological or related fields.

More than 15 years of research experience

Ideally an "Habilitation à Diriger les Recherches" or international equivalent to the status of professor or research director.

Proven expertise in the application of data science to solar energy or related fields (weather science, meteorology, remote sensing),

Strong experience in modeling, data analysis, and programming in Python, C, C++ under Linux and Windows environments.

Experience and ability to supervise and direct students in higher education in general and doctoral students in particular.

Fluency in the spoken and written English language is imperative and that of the French language is a plus

The main skills required for this post are :

Knowledge and skills :

Data science

Applied mathematics

Data Modeling and Analysis

Programming in Python, C, C++ under Linux and Windows environments

Soft skills :

Proven experience in graduate teaching, preferably in data and energy sciences.

Ability and desire to work collaboratively in interdisciplinary and multicultural teams.

Excellent written and oral communication skills, leading the academic world but also the socio-economic world.
